2022 Summer Trends You Can’t Ignore

By  |

The summer of 2022 will be one to remember for many, what with the lifting of the Pandemic restrictions in many places. What that means is not only will you likely be able to travel this summer but also hang with others too. Of course, this means you will want to look your very best, so you’d better brush up on the must-have fashions of the season you’ll find below.

The 1970s

The 1970s look is big for SS22 and we will see its influence in several ways. The first is with crochet which will be present in cardigans, waistcoats, and even swimwear. To be truly top of the crochet tree buy or make yourself a 70s flower power-inspired headband.

Another very 70’s trend that will be popular this year is platform shoes. Indeed, all shoes will give the platform treatment from the strappy part number to the flip flop. Most ’70s in appearance are closed-toe platform shoes with inverted heels. Think clunky and high and you can’t go wrong!

Lastly, when it comes to channeling the 70’s this season, it’s time to embrace the fringe! Fringe on dresses, skirts, knitwear, and even coats will have you looking the part in 2022. The longer the better. Just make sure they aren’t so long that they create a tripping hazard.

Oversized blazers/jackets

The oversized jacket trend seen in 2021 is here to stay and makes its way into smart and angular blazers. Team with the most mini of mini skirts for a sharp look that is bound to turn heads.

Alternatively, if blazers are a tad formal for your wardrobe oversized boxy shirts and cropped jean jackets can complete a look too.

Bikinis everywhere

If you are expecting bikinis to only be at the beach this year, you are in for a big surprise. Indeed, it seems like the lack of vacations over the last two years means that folks will be taking the opportunity to sport a bikini on ANY possible occasion!

In particular, strappy swimwear is in this season, and that goes for people of all shapes and sizes, no beach-body rules are required. The vintage look also continues to be popular with high waisted bikini bottoms giving that classic look that harks back to the ’50s and ’60s. Not to mention the supreme practicality of high-waisted beachwear.

White cotton

Structured, or floaty, embroidered or plain, white cotton dresses are all the rage this summer. The great thing about such a garment is that they can form the basis of your entire summer wardrobe as they can be worn over beachwear, jeans, or on their own with some great (platform shoes).

(When wearing a white cotton dress alone, choose nude underwear for an understated look, or rock something bright for contrast!)

Accessorize with oversized jewelry from a jewelry store in Dayton, and enjoy the sensation of keeping cool even in the mid-summer heat with a simple white cotton dress. For extra style points find one in a puffball style or a long maxi with tiers and embroidery that can be combined with your 1970’s items for a fully cohesive look.
