A Classy Trip With Friends: How To

By  |

Most people are happy to do anything with their friends. If you’ve got a solid group of amigos, then simply getting together and spending quality time as a group will be enough to make you happy. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t push the boat out a little and do things that are a little more adventurous and fun from time to time.

Take, for example, going on a trip together. This can be an excellent way to deepen the relationships that you already have. There’s no shortage of fun vacations you can take as a group! One of the more elegant ones is a classy trip, one that’s big in style.

In this blog, we’ll run through some essential tips that’ll ensure that your trip is classy from beginning to end.

Where to Go

First thing’s first: pick a destination that allows you to live the high life. All destinations have their plus points, but not all score highly on the classy front. In general, major cities are the way to go. If you’re on the east coast, then New York City would be the obvious selection. If you’re on the west coast, then Los Angeles could be the way to go. It’s all about choosing a place that has the quality of restaurants, bars, and hotels you need to live well.

Where to Stay

You want to have class running through every element of your trip. And so that means you’ll need to find the right accommodation for you and your friends! There are plenty of options. You could look at Airbnb and pick a luxury house or apartment that can sleep everyone. It’ll be best if you find a place that has a balcony with a view, a swimming pool or spa, or just anything that’s very much out of the norm.

Getting Dressed Up

Classiness isn’t just something that you experience. It’s something that you do. A big part of your classy trip will be the clothes you’re wearing. During the daytime, it won’t matter too much what threads you’ve got on. But in the evening? That’s your chance to really take things to another level of classiness. Guys could wear a sharp suit (one with a bit of style, not your regular office wear), while the ladies can put on their most elegant dress and classiest make-up.

Fine Dining

Most of us aren’t able to dine at the finest restaurants. They’re expensive, after all! But when you’re on a trip that’s dripping with class, it’s worthwhile pushing the boat out and splashing for a meal at a top-end restaurant. You may not go to the best one in town (especially if you’re in a place like New York; reservations can be hard to come by!), but so long as it’s a fine dining establishment, you’ll be good. It’ll certainly be a step up from the usual hyper-casual places that you and your friends normally visit.

Cocktail Bars

And what could be classier than a cocktail bar? There are plenty of bars at your disposal, but a cocktail bar is the one to go to when you’re looking to have a classy evening. Even the bartenders will be dressed up! If you’re not sure what type of cocktail you’re looking for, ask the staff. They’ll be experts in making cocktails and will surely create something delicious for you. Want to make your cocktail experience even better? Pair it with a cigar. If you’re in a place that has a balcony, you’ll be able to smoke in style while having a delicious drink. Life doesn’t get much more enjoyable than that.

Travel Upgrades

If you’re taking this type to celebrate a special occasion, then why not make it extra special? You could consider upgrading your bookings so that you have an even better experience. For example, if you’re flying, could you all upgrade to business class? This can be more affordable than many people think. Plus, it’s arguably one of those things that you should do at least once in your life, so why not when you’re traveling with your best friends?

Other upgrades to consider include your accommodation. If you’re staying in a hotel, then there could be a premium suite that you get just by spending a little bit more cash.

Hit the Spa

Having a classy vacation is all about indulging in the finer things in life. And for many people, it doesn’t get much finer than spending a day at a high-end spa. You’ll be pampered, you’ll be relaxed, and you’ll leave the spa feeling on top of the world. It’s the perfect way to warm up for a classy evening on the town with your friends. If you’re visiting anything close to a big city, then you’ll have several options at your disposal. Try to pick one that’s big on atmosphere as well as amenities. Alternatively, you can choose a hotel that has a spa — that just tends to make everything easier!

High-End Shopping

And while we’re talking about indulgence, why not pick up some new clothes when you’re on your trip too? If you’re one of those people that just visit basic shops when they need to pack their wardrobe, then luxury shopping can be a revelation. You don’t necessarily need to spend a fortune, either. It’s all about visiting boutique stores rather than luxury brand stores. You and your friends will have a lot of fun trying on clothes and walking away with some beautiful new items. Plus, it’ll give you something else to wear while you’re on your trip!

The Soundtrack

There’s always got to be a soundtrack to your trip. It’s far from background noise; it helps to define the trip. So when you’re trying to build a playlist for your vacation with your friends, look at picking those all-time classy songs. There are a lot of genres you can choose — big band, classical, jazz. Leave the pop and radio hits until you get back home.

You can take this idea even further by visiting a music club while you’re there. We don’t mean a nightclub (though if there’s a place like Studio 54 where you’re visiting, go for it!). In New York, for example, there are some excellent jazz bars that will allow you to live the New York experience to the max. There’s something magical about getting all dressed up and getting a yellow cab to a jazz club!

Everything in Style

Ultimately, classiness isn’t just something that you have to tap into here and there when you’re on your trip. It could be something that can feed into everything that you do. When in doubt about how to act, look for guidance from some of history’s classiest people. Audrey Hepburn seemed to do everything with style, so follow her lead! There are enough opportunities for having a debauched time when you’re with your nearest and dearest. This trip should be the opposite!

Conclusion

In our opinion, not enough people take the time to bring some class and style into their life. It’s one of those things that can sound expensive or difficult to do, but it doesn’t have to be either of those things. Indeed, so long as you’re all wearing sharp clothing and you’re ready to have fun, you’ll be largely there. And you won’t regret your decision to have this type of trip. Just be sure to take plenty of photos: this will be a trip that you’ll want to look back on for many years to come.
