Graham Patrick Martin is an American film and television actor. He is best known for his recurring role as Eldridge on Two and a Half Men and former teen hustler Rusty Beck on the series finale of The Closer and in its spinoff series, Major Crimes.
- How do you relate to your Major Crimes character Rusty Beck?
We both stubbornly stand by what we think is right-even after we know we’re wrong.
- Where would you like Major Crimesto go next?
It’s the last season, so I want it to end in a way that satisfies our dedicated fans; some of whom have been with us for thirteen years.
- Can you share anything we can expect coming in Season 6?
Rusty’s life is in danger in more ways than one. It becomes very evident very early in the season.
- You are starring in Bukowski, based on Charles Bukowski’s life. Do you have a favorite work by him?
Look up his poem called “Out of the Arm of One Love” You won’t regret it.
- What was it like to work on a film with James Franco?
It was fun. I only worked on it for a few days. He was a delightful director. Not all directors are delightful.
- What was the greatest challenge you faced while filming Bukowski?
It was my first time working on a period piece. Though it was a challenge, I enjoyed researching the boys of that time-period.
- Major Crimeshas been recognized for its portrayal of homeless youth in LA and working with The Covenant House. Have you seen how the show has made a positive impact on the perspective of homeless youth?
As a result of the Rusty storyline; our show has been given the opportunity to partner up with the Covenant House on many occasions. Meeting with people who have lived a similar life to Rusty, I am often told “Thank you for telling my story” that is a pretty special feeling.
- You do a lot of work with The Sunshine Kids. What is the best part of spending time with the kids?
Seeing the joy that they experience to be out of the treatment centers and experiencing this life that they are fighting so hard to hold onto. The kids that I’ve met are a thousand times stronger than I will ever be.
- Who is your biggest inspiration?
My folks. They taught me what’s right and wrong. I’d like to think it stuck.
- Do you have any advice for aspiring actors?
Make sure that you can look at yourself in the mirror and honestly say that there is nothing else in the world you’d rather be doing. If you’re just “trying out the acting thing” you will be miserable.
