Mounting tension between rappers Joe Budden and Meek Mill sparked fireworks as the two engaged in an exchange of words via social media on July 4th. Early Saturday morning, Budden used his podcast show to weigh in on the relationship between Rap’s newest power couple: Meek Mill and his recent fiancé Nicki Minaj.
“Part of my problem with that is that Meek’s music is too hard,” said Budden. “Meek’s music is too hard for me to look at him with this fu**ing sappy f**k sh*t. Be the hardcore guy that I’m sure she was attracted to at some point. It’s nasty. Budden went on to say, “I hate everything about it. I’m glad a dark-skinned guy is behaving this way. Light-skinned ni**as, we’re not moving like that. Light-skinned guys, we’re used to getting the bad b*tch….”
Budden’s comments spread like wildfire throughout internet- catching the attention of Meek Mill who took to Twitter with a few opinions of his own. The MMG rapper fired back by calling Budden a “noodle,” criticizing his career, and even claiming that he should stick to doing reality television because “Rap money slowing up.”
Nicki also took notice and broke her silence on the matter after tweeting, “Why would you be bothered by another man showing love to his girl? Let’s celebrate black love. All the best w/ur podcast. All jokes aside.”
With the help of Meek Mill, the internet was soon swarming with satirical memes and videos of the Love and Hip Hop rapper.
Budden later defended his statements by saying that his words were “taken out of context. “
Although the 34 year old lyricist from New Jersey is all too familiar with celebrity feuds, it’s safe to say that in this scenario, Budden definitely bit off more than he could chew.
Sorry Joe!
