What is your morning routine?
COFFEE, haha! I am not a morning person so I wake up slowly. First answering emails and checking Instagram, cuddling with my dog a bit and heading to the kitchen for coffee and a banana or a yogurt. What does a nutritional / balanced breakfast look like for you?
Since I’m not a morning person, I usually don’t have a big breakfast but I do make juice. Having a juicer is the way I am able to eat a lot of the fruits and veggies that wouldn’t otherwise make it into my diet. Plus I love ginger so that flavor can make even beets taste good to me :) What is your fitness routine like?
I do yoga twice a week. Otherwise I think just modeling keeps me in shape. Being on my feet and holding poses means lots of muscle use, believe it or not! What is one thing that keeps you motivated? I stay motivated by the competitive nature of the fashion industry. If I’m not on it, there is always another pretty face waiting in line to accept the booking! Slacking off a couple days means the following weekend will have some schedule holes of shoots I missed out on. Possibly clients who would have booked me again next season! What is your go to skin care product?
Coconut oil is my go-to. Moisture is so important, especially in the dry climate of Los Angeles. I value the natural vitamins and minerals of coconut oil, without all the chemicals that we are slowly learning are more harmful than helpful.
That’s a tough one! I have a different designer I like for different items. Prada dominates my purse collection. While Honey Birdette is most of my lingerie…and I have a whole dresser of lingerie! Lots of shoe designers in my closet…so it’s tough to choose a favorite! How do you dress for a night out in the town?
I tend to over-Glamour myself rather than be underdressed. I love all the girly things and getting dolled up is one of my favorite ways to spend a weekend night on the town. I wear lots of black and metallics, my style is very rockstar-glam for be most part! I’m not afraid to show off ;) What was your favorite feature/ photoshoot/ project? Man! These are really good questions! My favorite project may actually be a music video I was booked for, with Marilyn Manson and Johnny Depp. I’m featured in both “Say10” and “Kill4me” and I had such a blast working with these icon, including Bill Yukich, the director. It was a whirlwind of creative genius and will forever be a highlight of my life.
Brains and beauty is a powerful combination. How does your communications degree help you advance in your career?
I would say that having a degree can never hurt, I use that knowledge more than I even realize. Being freelance always requires communication skills, from castings to negotiating booking details and even being on set in a collaborative team environment! What advice would you give for anyone looking to go into the industry? I would advise them that there’s a lot more to it than appears to be. You have to really hold a passion because at any point if you slack off, your career will suffer. Being driven and taking care of your asset (your look) is of the utmost importance. But it can certainly provide for unique experiences! Who is your inspiration?
I am inspired by a variety of people. My parents have always been a great inspiration to me, hard-working and loving people. I have had a ton of support from them over the years. I am also inspired by the likes of Helmut Newton, Marilyn Monroe, Hugh Hefner, Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss and other iconic members that have forever changed the industry. Written By: Tessa Oliver
