A yacht charter in the Caribbean is a cathartic experience: toes dig into warm, powder-like sand on Darkwood Beach in Antigua; the melodic sound of soothing island beats emanate from a colourful beachfront shack on Anguilla; and a balmy sea breeze gently rustles through the palm trees in St. Lucia, bringing a welcome break from the heat of the endless sunshine. Just the conditions will leave you wanting for nothing. Yet, when complemented by a cool and expertly crafted cocktail, you experience a kind of euphoria that is experienced only on a Caribbean yacht charter. Set sail for the beach bars of the Caribbean islands in 2017, and be sure to order one of these three speciality cocktails:

  1. Casino Royale – Paradise Island

 Casino Royale – Paradise Island

It is little wonder that the producers of James Bond Film “Casino Royale” chose to film at the One & Only Ocean Club on the aptly named Paradise Island. Head there on your Bahamas yacht charter to enjoy a cool Casino Royale cocktail.

Colonial in style, and with a subtle sumptuousness that is typical of such high-end Caribbean islands, Paradise Island immediately transports one back in time to the glamorous heyday of exotic travel. Aside from the Pool Terrace Café, stunning library, and impossibly verdant Versailles Gardens, it is the Dune Bar – designed by famed French interior designer Christian Liaigre – that has played host to some of the world’s most exclusive affairs.

Channel your inner Bond by arriving ashore on the tender of M/Y LADY LUCK – a 59.30m superyacht that was built by Benetti. The gold-plated elevator is not the only Bond-esque element of this spectacular vessel; her Fendi interior radiates opulence, while her various exterior spaces are perfect for al fresco dining – her spacious sundeck is protected from the hot Caribbean sun by removable bimini tops. She offers six spacious and stylish cabins, including a 270-degree observation lounge in the Master’s suite. If you enjoy staying active, there is a large choice of watersports equipment available; otherwise, unwind in the superyacht’s sauna or Jacuzzi.

  1. Elvis’ Beach Bar Rum Punch – Sandy Ground, Anguilla

[Orange, pineapple, lime and guava juices. Bitters. Mount Gay rum. Shake with ice, add an Amaretto floater, and sprinkle with nutmeg.]

While Anguilla could be considered as the less refined sister of nearby St. Maarten, she is no less appealing: what she lacks in polished, upmarket storefronts, she more than makes up for in her laid-back and impossibly beautiful beaches, which are considered to be among some of the best in the world. On top of this, and more importantly, she is said to be the culinary capital of the Caribbean, with 70 exquisite restaurants spread out over the island’s 30mi2.

For a true local experience, head to Sandy Ground on the northwest shore of the island, where you will find world-famous beach shack Elvis’. Located in an old wooden boat on the beach, with seating spread amongst the palms, this breezy bar is the epitome of Caribbean cool. The bar is loved by locals, tourists, and celebrities alike and an evening spent here is a must on any anguilla yacht charter; as is her rum punch, the drink to drink on the island.

Match the laid back atmosphere of Anguilla with a charter on the stunning S/Y PTARMIGAN. Her understated luxury is all part of her charm, and there is no feeling like the one felt when the warm trade winds fill her sails. Her four cabins provide ample room for family and friends, while her saloon area transforms into a lounge with a large television for cosy nights in. Should you find yourself too relaxed on board, the superyacht carries a wide selection of water toys, fishing equiptment, and diving gear to take advantage of the crystalline seas.

  1. Lava Flow – Sugar Beach, St. Lucia

The peaks of the imposing Piton Mountains overlook the lush rainforests and waterfalls on the beautiful island of St. Lucia. Nestled between them is the incredible Sugar Beach resort. Constructed around a former Sugar Mill (formerly, the Jalouise Plantation) and set in over 325 acres of mango, coconut, and papaya trees, the resort characterises an idyllic anchorage spot.

As the island is covered in Volcanic beaches, it would seem wrong not to order the lava flow cocktail at the luxurious Cane Bar. Make sure to request the sumptuous St. Lucia Rum 1931 (aged for over eight decades) from the bar’s very own Rummelier, while feasting on canapes of local fresh produce. The bar’s stylish interior matches the chic and sophisticated clientele. Following an evening of dancing on the beach with the sparkling reflection of the moon darting across the glittering sea, retire to your superyacht, where the view back to land is equally as stunning.
