The Art

Santa Fe is famous for its art. One place you will find a lot of it is Canyon Road Arts. As you walk on the half-mile road, you will find many art galleries, museums and studios. Some of the art galleries are the Zaplin Lampert Gallery and the Waxlander Gallery.

The galleries exhibit work from artists from the entire world.

A Visit to the Museum

As a cultural center, Santa Fe has many museums. These preserve the cultures of the Native Americans, indigenous people and great artists.

Some of the museums include the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, which showcases the culture of Native Americans and New Mexico Museum of Art which has art mainly from the Southwest with artists such as Gina Knee Brook and Paul Burlin.

Also, there is the Georiga O’Keeffe Museum that showcases her great collections which include ‘My New Yorks’, and ‘Abstract Nature’. Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian showcases Native American creativity with Native American jewelry and pottery. Also, it displays artworks by tribes such as Navajo and hosts events such as book clubs.

The New Mexico history museum has century-old stories of the US State. It has a history of the indigenous people and the setters. 

Put it in your bucket list to visit at least one museum. Four museums are located in Museum Hill, so you can head there if you want to visit many museums. Luckily, you can enjoy the stunning view of the city when here.

The Farmers Market

Your visit wouldn’t be complete without visiting the farmers market and enjoy the local produce and delicacies. One such place is the Santa Fe Farmer’s Market. Here you can find local fruits, vegetables, poultry, meat, and baked foods.

Outdoor Activities

Santa Fe has a climate that favors outdoor activities. During winter, you can go for skiing while in summer you can go hiking.

You could go bird watching at Randal Davey Audubon Centre and Sanctuary, which comprises of more than 130 acres and almost 200 bird types. You will see the Mountain Chickadee, the Black-billed Magpie and the Spotted Towhee. The sanctuary also has plants.

For hiking and great views, try out Hyde Memorial State Park. The park occupies 350 acres, and it has hiking trails and camping sites. While here, you can also enjoy fishing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, kayaking, bird watching or a picnic.

You could also head to the Dale Ball Trails if you want to do mountain biking, hiking or trail running. There are more trails at the Santa Fe National Forest.

For skiers, there is the Ski Santa Fe which consists of 83 trails with 1,725 vertical feet for skiing. Taos Ski Valley also comprises 3,274 vertical feet of snow.
