Mona Moore has been chosen by fashion design house Maison Margiela to host its iconic installation of chairs in Venice, CA. Dozens of chairs will be slip covered in signature Maison Margiela white canvas and the walls and floor lined with Mylar. The “infinite pile of chairs” will be revealed on Thursday, September 8th, 2016, during a special event held at the boutique from 5:00 to 8:00 to celebrate its debut.
Margiela proposed the installation to celebrate its vision for design in shoes, handbags, and accessories. Owner and Creative Director of Mona Moore, Lisa Bush, has cultivated a long-standing relationship with the design house. Few other stores have had the opportunity to host an original Maison Margiela art installation. Among those previously selected are Dover Street Market in New York, and a collaboration between Converse and Maison Margiela in Vancouver. Mona Moore is honored to be among them.
Mona Moore has arranged for the event to feature a number of designs from Maison Margiela’s past seasons. Collectors have been invited to contribute some of their favorite pieces for display at the event. A pair of SS96 conceptual Tabi heels comprised of soles and a roll of clear tape, purchased by Blythe Alison-Mayne in 1996 at the Maison Margiela Boutique in Antwerp, will be one of the night’s highlights.
There will be valet parking, drinks, and hors d’ouvres.
