Work wear has a separate history from traditional fashion, but of course, the two paths overlap eventually. Work wear was once largely inadequate in the United States, especially for child works of the 18th and 19th century. With the introduction of the WPA and OSHA, work wear standards have become stricter to preserve the well being of working professionals.
Cowboys, miners and railroad workers were the first to adopt denim, a French creation, for their workday activities.
